SINGAPORE—Netflix is talking to agencies about building its presence in Asia through social media, Mumbrella can reveal.

The US on-demand internet streaming company held a pitch last week for social media activity in five key Asian markets.

Mirum, We Are Social and The Secret Little Agency are among those involved, according to sources.

The company, which established a presence in Japan in September, it is to roll out in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan early in the new year. Netflix set up in Australia and New Zealand at the beginning of the year.

Netflix, a brand that has captured the imagination of consumers and put fear into the hearts of traditional television broadcasters, has said it aims to be present in 200 countries by the end of next year.

A Netflix spokesman told Mumbrella that it does not comment on the agencies it works with.
