SLOUGH, UK--CA Technologies has selected Octopus Group to handle its UK PR account, following a review that included at least three other agencies.

Incumbent firm Nelson Bostock declined to repitch for the business, as revealed by the Holmes Report earlier this year.

The assignment focuses primarily on B2B communications, to pan-European, national and trade audiences. Octopus will be responsible for the delivery of the core PR programme as well as campaigns specifically designed to target CIOs.

"Business today is putting more pressure on IT than ever before. CIOs must maintain their current level of service, while answering demands for mobile, social, cloud, analytics, and other solutions — all with stretched resources," said CA Technologies communications VP Sarah Atkinson.

"We believe Octopus will play a key role in positioning CA Technologies as a strategic partner to business and further explain how we can help organisations realise more from their investments in technology."

Octopus client services director Laura Slade added that the firm has "developed a proactive campaign that will redefine how their business is perceived over the course of the next twelve months."

"Our campaign will focus on establishing CA Technologies as a thought leader in the IT and tech sector as well as building platforms for the company and new VP and UK and Ireland GM Jacqueline de Rojas to feature in business and national press."

CA is best-known for its IT infrastructure and management products, which are widely used in the corporate world. In the UK, the company hit the headlines earlier this year when the FT reported that RBS is considering legal action against the company, because of a software glitch that left millions of customers unable to access their bank accounts.

The $4.4bn company employs 14,000 people worldwide, and regularly ranks among the top vendors in the multi-billion dollar worldwide cloud and network management software market.

Earlier this year, the company shifted its Asia-Pacific PR business to boutique firm In.Fom, after working with Hill + Knowlton Strategies for several years.
