LONDON--UK consumer PR firm Kaper has named Simone Drewry, former head of Australian agency Mango, to the newly-created role of managing director.

Drewry departed Mango Sydney earlier this year for the UK, after more than four years of leading the highly-rated, DDB-owned Australian outfit.

At Kaper, she will report to agency founder Chris McCafferty, focusing on new business acquisition and on working with Kaper’s two sister agencies, creative ad agency Karamarama and content production company Kream.

“Simone is one of Australia’s highest profile PR executives and we are very fortunate to have tempted her to join Kaper,” said McCafferty. “Simone’s track record of success with integrated campaigns within a multi-agency environment is the perfect fit for Kaper’s vision.”

Drewry oversaw considerable success at Mango, including winning agency of the year honours from AdNews and B&T. Her clients included Volkswagen, McDonald’s and Telstra, while she also sits on the DDB Sydney board.

"I couldn't turn this role down," said Drewry. "The chance to work within a creative business, such as the Karma Comms Group, that has a truly integrated vision for PR is rare."

"In less than two years Kaper has gathered some real energy and momentum and I hope to help build on that."
