NEW YORK—Edelman has hired former Digitas executive Glenn Engler to the newly-created role of director of corporate strategy.

Engler, who departed his role as CEO of Digital Influence Group (DIG) earlier this year when it merged with sister agency Racepoint, will also serve as chief of staff to president and CEO Richard Edelman.

He is tasked with overseeing implementation of the 'Hamburg Principles', Edelman's global plan to stay ahead of its competition, by developing a more integrated offering that can better compete against advertising and digital agencies.

“We have a tremendous opportunity due to the changing nature of clients, who are now open to ideas from PR, advertising and digital agencies," said Richard Edelman. "As a PR firm, we have a specific advantage because we understand storytelling, credibility and the living brief."

Prior to joining DIG in 2010, Engler was president of Digitas’ Boston operation, where he oversaw 900 people across the Boston, Detroit, and Atlanta offices.

“With our three areas of emphasis being PR, digital and research, Glenn’s unique blend of PR, digital, and social media skills make him a perfect fit to drive the implementation of our global strategy of advancing research, creative, digital, partnerships and new media relationships,” said Edelman.

Engler will report to Richard Edelman and work closely with global COO Matthew Harrington and CFO Victor Malanga.
