SAN FRANCISCO — Salesforce.com has selected Nectar Communications as its US PR agency, the Holmes Report can reveal.

The decision follows a competitive review that sees the cloud computing giant part ways with incumbent agencies Hill + Knowlton Strategies and Shift Communications. Salesforce works with various agencies across the global, including Nelson Bostock in the UK. No changes are expected in those markets.

Nectar's brief includes media relations, strategic counsel, awards/speaking and other thought leadership. Nectar has been around since 2008, carving a tech niche for itself with clients like Workday, VMware and LinkedIn. It was founded by Tracy Sjogreen and Rachel Petersen, the latter having worked on Salesforce during her time at OutCast, which was the company's first PR agency.

Since 2011, Salesforce has split PR duties between Hill + Knowlton and Shift. Shift repitched the seven-figure business, but H+K did not. Nectar will begin transitioning on the business next week.

“We've set our sights on the next industry disruption and launched the Salesforce1 Customer Platform to help companies engage with customers in new ways through social, mobile and connected cloud technologies,” Salesforce CMO Lynn Vojovdich said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have Nectar Communications as our communications partner in this amazing new journey.”
