Norwegian agency Nucleus celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024, having adapted and thrived through various market fluctuations through its constant focus on creating trust for its clients and building authentic connections in an era marked by polarization and misinformation.

Last year marked a significant turnaround in terms of business performance. In the first half of 2022, Nucleas had real momentum, hiring and budgeting for strong topline growth. But in the autumn of 2022, the market cooled down and clients hit the brakes. The agency's ambitious growth strategy had to be pulled back, and it headed into 2023 with a deficit. Two years later, the 26-strong team delivered its highest-ever revenue of just over €3 million, with an 110% increase in operating profit from 2023 to 2024, and 273% profit growth over the past two years.

This growth was attributed to securing 21 new clients in 2024, including IKEA and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority, the largest client in the agency's history. In 2024, Nucleus invested in the development of Nucleus Labs – an AI workshop model that implements AI services for communicators and marketers. Over the past year, it has trained more than 80 communication advisors and marketing professionals in the use of AI, and trained further 40 professionals in mastering the art of prompting, as well as creating a dedicated AI assistant for IKEA. At Arendalsuka – Norway's largest political gathering held annually in Arendal – Nucleus hosted a debate about AI with over 300 participants.

Its impactful creative campaigns last year included 'Telenor Oppdatert!', which raised awareness about cybersecurity through engaging storytelling and high-quality content. Another significant initiative was the Space for Experiences campaign for BORI, which elevated the brand's visibility and relevance, leading to a 170% increase in brand searches.

The culture at Nucleus is defined by its employee ownership model, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Key leadership figures, including CEO Anette Jamtvedt and senior advisors with extensive experience in the industry, ensure that Nucleus remains a trusted partner in strategic communications.—CD
