Norwegian creative agency TRY was launched in 1998 and has grown into the largest independent in the market, with more than 400 specialists across disciplines, as well as the most awarded, having won Agency of the Year honors for 22 consecutive years, an achievement that backs up the agency’s claim that "We do not give up until we have found the best ideas. Ever." TRY launched its public relations operation, TRY Råd in 2018, building on the parent company’s legacy of creativity with an additional focus on technology and innovation. The firm’s expertise spans reputation management, crisis communication and brand building, and it is the Norwegian partner of Swedish corporate communications business Kreab Worldwide, providing international reach.

Led by chief executive Stine Grøndahl Sesseng, the firm’s diverse team of consultants ranges from former ministers shaping campaign strategies with reality TV producers, McKinsey alumni brainstorming alongside veteran journalists and young creatives—all able to draw on the resources of the broader group. The culture incudes bi-weekly knowledge-sharing sessions where teams come together to share insights across disciplines and learn, while TRY Plus, the firm’s dynamic learning platform, delivers specialized workshops and training for both employees and clients. Events from indoor football and cross-country skiing to morning saunas and ice swimming build team spirit.

It all leads to what the firm calls “The Råd Effect,” the ability to turn complex analysis into practical, results-driven solutions. The proof is in the breadth of the firm’s award-winning work. Highlights over the past year include “The World’s Most Important Workout” for Sats Norway, which saw the region’s largest gym introduce an office workout class built around teaching CPR. To generate excitement over Volkswagen’s new EV—and underscore its range—the firm created “The Walking Ads,” which offered Norwegians the chance to win a new EV by walking its 613 kilometer range. And TRY helped The World Wildlife Fund launch “The Climate Games” during the Paris Olympics focusing on record-breaking temperature levels.

After a difficult 2023, TRY returned to growth in 2024, retaining and building on partnerships with longstanding clients such as IKEA, Innovation Norway, and Volkswagen, while securing new wins like Netflix, Strawberry Hotels, and Norwegian. Other significant client additions in recent years include Mondelez, Sats, Flytoget, public transport system Ruter, and mobile payment app Vipps.—PH
