MIAMI— Author, teacher, and documentarian Douglas Rushkoff, whose new book Present Shock: When Everything Happens Now, explores the implications of the “always on” digital world, has joined the roster of speakers at The Holmes Report’s second Global Public Relations Summit, which will take place in Miami this November.

Rushkoff will be part of a panel, hosted by Weber Shandwick, called The Tao of Now, a dialogue between Rushkoff and Chris Perry, the firm’s president of digital.

Winner of the Media Ecology Association's first Neil Postman award for Career Achievement in Public Intellectual Activity, Rushkoff focuses on the ways people, cultures, and institutions create, share, and influence each other's values. He is technology and media commentator for CNN, digital literacy advocate for Codecademy.com and has taught and lectured around the world about media, technology, culture and economics.

Present Shock has earned rave reviews for its exploration of the ways in which the new temporal landscape influences media, culture, economics, politics, and meaning. His previous best-selling books on media and popular culture include Program or Be Programmed: Ten Commands for a Digital Age, and Life Inc, and he has written and hosted three award-winning PBS Frontline documentaries: The Merchants of Cool, The Persuaders (about the cluttered landscape of marketing), and most recently, Digital Nation.

Rushkoff joins a list of thought leaders from the worlds of marketing and academia, including WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell; and a host of senior corporate communications professionals including Corey DuBrowa of Starbucks, Christof Ehrhart of Deutsche Post, Stephen Forshaw of Temasek, Herbert Heitmann of Bayer, Dave Samson of Chevron, and Ian Wright of Diageo.
