GABORONE—Twenty-eight public relations campaigns from across the African continent have been selected as winners in the second annual SABRE Awards Africa competition, which recognizes Superior Achievement in Branding Reputation & Engagement.

The winners will receive their trophies during an awards ceremony in Gaborone, Botswana, on May 10. The gala dinner is part of the African Public Relations Association’s annual conference. Tickets can be reserved at the conference website.

Several PR agencies will be receiving multiple trophies for their work, including Instinctif Partners (four); Edelman (three); FleishmanHillard, Image Merchants, and Reputation Matters (two each). “The quality of work in Africa is improving year on year,” says Paul Holmes, who served as chair of the judges. “We are seeing exceptional campaigns from across the entire region, with increasingly sophisticated use of digital channels and a more integrated approach.”

In addition, there are five finalists for the Platinum SABRE Award, which recognizes the overall best campaign in the region last year. They are:
