He joins from Edelman where he was VP of digital health. Prior to Edelman, Shwen he led digital strategy and social media at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

NEW YORK—GCI Health has appointed Elliot Levy (pictured) as senior vice president in the agency’s New York office, charged with launching a new capability in corporate social responsibility. Levy has more than 10 years of experience—most recently at Kyne Communications—supporting global biopharmaceutical companies, advocacy groups and public-private partner programs. His appointment coincides with the promotion of Mary Kate Watkins—an expert in beauty, aesthetics and consumer health—to senior vice president in the New York office.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL—FTI Consulting has appointed Barbara Ryan as managing director in the firm’s strategic communications practice in New York. SEATTLE—Waggener Edstrom Worldwide has added Arisbe Gardner as vice president of public affairs in its Washington, DC, office. Gardner has been a consultant to government agencies on issues including cybersecurity and pandemics and spent more than three years as a legislative staffer for two members of Congress. She joins from Booz Allen Hamilton, where she led a team of communications experts on the national cybersecurity awareness campaign, Stop.Think.Connect.

WASHINGTON, DC—SKDKnickerbocker, a political consulting and strategic communications firm, has hired Kelley McCormick as a managing director. Most recently, McCormick was an executive vice president at McBee|Gibraltar, where she worked on corporate and non-profit campaigns that dealt with public health concerns such as obesity, the U.S. HIV/AIDS epidemic, and food allergies. Clients have include Dole Food, Gilead Sciences, the Financial Times, HBO, and the Bipartisan Policy Center.

VIENNA, VA—Buffalo Communications has promoted Scott Leightman to Public Relations Director and Glenn Gray to public relations manager. Leightman will assume a larger role in strategy development and oversight of program execution within the company's products division. He joined Buffalo in 2011, after serving as director of PR at TaylorMade-adidas Golf, VP of PR for the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats and director of basketball communications for the Phoenix Suns. Gray joined in 2010 after managing marketing and PR for the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy.
