SAN DIEGO—Paul Worlie is joining Nuffer, Smith, Tucker as the agency's public affairs and government relations specialist. Worlie's primary work will include collaborating with city and county elected officials statewide to educate the public about agriculture issues on behalf of the Citrus Pest & Disease Prevention Program, an NST client since 2008. Worlie is the former deputy executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Past clients have included US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and former US Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle.

NEW YORK—DeVries Global has promoted Laura Springer to managing director and hired Megan VanBlarcom as senior art director, creative and strategic services. Springer will oversee accounts in the agency’s food, beverage and lifestyle division including Tyson Foods, PUR Water Filtration, Celebrity Cruises, and Samuel Adams, and will supervise the agency marketing team. VanBlarcom previously worked at 360i, and Tenthwave Digital.

NEW YORK—Karv Communications, a communications firm with a focus on corporate and financial communications, crisis management and public affairs, has added Eric Andrus as executive vice president. He joins KARV Communications from RLM Finsbury, where he served as partner. Prior to joining RLM Finsbury in 1998, he served in the Clinton Administration: director of communications for the US Immigration & Naturalization Service, and director of the US Information Agency's New York Foreign Press Center.
