MIAMI — Jonathan Stern, a 30-year industry veteran, has joined Burson-Marsteller as managing director and market leader of its Miami office.  Stern will oversee the firm’s Miami team and operations, which includes much of the agency’s Latin American business.  Stern joins from Platinum Marketing Communications, which he ran as president and CEO.

NEW YORK — CSR expert Kiva Starr has joined Fenton as a senior VP and managing director of Actio, the firm’s corporate social good practice.  Starr joins from Cone Communications, where she was a VP of corporate responsibility and reputation.  Previous experience includes working as an MSL VP and global deputy director of corporate and brand citizenship.

WASHINGTON, DC — SKDKnickerbocker has named Jill Zuckman president of its Washington public affairs practice, and Kerry Lyon to the same role in New York. Zuckman and Lyon are both agency managing directors. The firm also expanded its Los Angeles operation’s capabilities by hiring Heather Wilson as a managing director there.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA — Ken Terry, a journalist and business writer, has joined Amendola Communications as a full-time writer. Terry is a former senior editor of Medical Economics Magazine and has written  for publications including Medical Economics and Medscape Medical News. He has also written a book, Rx For Health Care Reform.

SAN FRANCISCO — Ann Barlow, Peppercomm’s West Coast president, has been elected to serve as the board chair of Watermark, a Bay Area organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in leadership positions.  Barlow, who has been on the board since 2014, will lead the group in its 25th year of promoting the advancement of women in business. She will serve a two-year term.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Cultivate PR has promoted two longtime staffers — Amanda Sprague and Lindsey LeRoy. Sprague, a Cultivate partner since 2015, has been upped to a VP role. Leroy, who is now an account director, will lead a new team created to manage consumer packaged goods and hospitality clients.
