NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has appointed two new partners: Carrie Schum, executive vice president, strategic planning, analytics and research, in Washington, DC, and Jimmy Szczepanek, executive vice president, Los Angeles. Schum has been with PN for 18 years, while Szczepanek—part of the food and nutrition practice—currently leads the firm’s relationship with the Almond Board of California.

WASHINGTON, DC—MWWPR has hired Amy Dacey as executive vice president and managing director of issues management and public affairs. Dacey will lead the firm’s public affairs practice and will serve as managing director of MWW’s Washington, DC, office.  Prior to joining MWWPR, she served as CEO of the Democratic National Committee and executive director of Emily’s List.

SAO PAULO—JeffreyGroup, the Latin America communications agency, has appointed to new group directors in its São Paulo office: Debora Pratali, previously at FSB Comunicação, and Thiago Massari, formerly at S2Publicom/Weber Shandwick, join JeffreyGroup to lead client service teams and business development. Both report directly to the managing director and market leader for Brazil, Rodrigo Pinotti.

SAN FRANCISCO—Liberty Communications has added Jim Lubinskas as managing director. Based in Liberty's San Francisco office, Lubinskas will direct the agency's US team, oversee client services and drive new business development efforts. He has represented companies such as Cisco, Digex, MicroStrategy and Software AG and has previously held senior positions at Spire Communications, Mach Media and W2 Communications.
