NEW YORK—Anita Kawatra, former head of external affairs and advisor to the CEO at Prothena Biosciences has joined Edelman’s New York office as executive vice president for its health sector. She will report to Bruce Hayes, managing director of health for Edelman New York, and will oversee client and business development across the pharmaceutical, life sciences and biotech sectors. Prior to Prothena, Kawatra served in a number of leadership roles at Elan Pharmaceuticals, most recently as vice president of scientific relations.

TORONTO—Citizen Relations Canada has named Amdanda Shuchat vice president as it strengthens leadership in its new i²: Insight & Innovation working group. Shuchat will continue to lead retail and corporate accounts, and will develop the i² team’s analytics and strategic planning expertise. In addition, Sabrina Kandasamy has been appointed senior director of strategic planning and Morgan Todd has been promoted to manager, analytics.

PARSIPPANY, NJ—Coyne has appointed Matt Leung as advertising account director. He will lead Coyne’s advertising department and expand the agency’s integrated marketing capabilities. Prior to Coyne, Leung led the development and execution of the Mucinex advertising campaign in his role as executive director of healthcare advertising at Reckitt Benckiser. He has also worked at Young & Rubicam, Doyle Dane & Bernbach, Ted Bates and McCann.

NEW YORK—Sopexa Group, a marketing agency for food, beverage and lifestyle brands, has appointed Benjamin Bourinat as director of public relations, Sopexa USA. He will be responsible for leading the development of client public relations and social media campaigns, as well as strategic partnerships and integrations. Bourinat joins Sopexa from Omnicom, where he was most recently manager of corporate communications. He has also held strategic communications positions at Interpublic Group, Havas, and before that worked on François Hollande’s 2012 presidential campaign team.

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Crosby Marketing Communications has added Gabrielle Weber as a senior integration manager, handling programs for clients in Crosby’s government practice, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Prior to joining Crosby, Weber served as a senior communications specialist at Abt Associates, where clients included several US Department of Health & Human Services divisions.
