NEW YORK—Carmen Widman, a senior-level booking producer for MSNBC, is joining Marathon Strategies as senior vice president of media relations. In her new role, Widman will provide senior counsel to Marathon’s diverse array of corporate and non-profit clients on media relations and reputation management. Widman has worked at MSNBC as a senior level booking producer for the past 15 years. She previously worked at WNBC as well as at ABC and News 12. 

NEW YORK—Peppercomm has hired former Wall Street Journal financial reporter Joe Checkler as a media and content specialist. He will provide counsel on media strategy, create content for clients, and deepen the firm’s expertise in financial services and capital markets. In his 11 years with the Wall Street Journal, Checkler broke stories during the financial crisis, and covered some of the largest bankruptcies in history.

NEW YORK—Stacey Staaterman, who led corporate integrated marketing and sales in American Express’ media unit in New York has joined brand consulting firm Falcon & Wolf as a partner to lead marketing strategy and leadership coaching practices. Staaterman held several leadership roles with the American Express Media unit, focusing on marketing campaigns leveraging integrated editorial content, data targeted media, events, American Express card and travel assets, digital and mobile media, subscription offers, and direct mail.

Prior to that, she was an account director in the health program at the American Institutes for Research. She will strengthen Crosby’s healthcare and government practices.
