CHICAGO — Discount supermarket chain Aldi has hired Zeno to handle its communications in the US.

The German company named Zeno its US agency of record following a competitive review. Weber Shandwick was the incumbent agency.

Zeno will handle all aspects of brand and corporate reputation work including earned media, creative, influencer relations, executive positioning, CEO counsel and issues and crisis management.

The agency's overarching focus is elevating Aldi's reputation with an emphasis on the chain's quality and value.

The account will be handled from Zeno’s Chicago office with help from New York and California-based talent.

The no-frills grocery chain has more than 2,200 stores in 38 states and has its sights set on becoming the US's third-largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022.

Started as a family business in 1913 in Essen, Germany, Aldi's global footprint includes more than 10,000 stores in 10 countries.
