NEW YORK —  Genealogy company Ancestry has awarded its US public relations business to Zeno Group.

As Ancestry’s US agency of record, Zeno will lead the planning and execution of fully integrated communications that include corporate, health and consumer work. The agency has created a multi-disciplinary team to handle the three core areas of Ancestry’s business — family history, AncestryHealth and corporate reputation.  The account will be led by Zeno’s New York and San Francisco offices.

Zeno won the business in a competitive review launched by chief communications officer Julie Miller, who joined Ancestry last August after nearly two decades at Intuit.

Incumbent Lippe Taylor, which started working with Ancestry last year, did not participate in the pitch, which included a focus on finding an agency with a San Francisco operation. Ancestry also works with Weber Shandwick on a per-project basis.

“Zeno’s data-driven, highly strategic approach really set them apart. They came to us with a clear vision on how we can continue to tell the story of the products and services we provide, while elevating our overall societal purpose, never more important and relevant than it is today,” Miller said. “Zeno brings deep subject matter expertise as well as a holistic point of view that will enable us to stretch our thinking and our imaginations.”

Launched 24 years ago, Ancestry is a global leader in family history and consumer genomics. The company has a collection of 24 billion records and more than 16 million people in its consumer DNA network.
