WASHINGTON — APCO Worldwide has hired campaign strategist Nina Verghese to lead its campaigns & advocacy practice.

Verghese brings more than a decade of experience to the senior director role. She succeeds Dan Meyers, who will now serve as the deputy managing director of APCO’s Washington office with a focus on market growth and business development. Meyers also will continue to advise and counsel key clients.

Prior to joining APCO, Verghese worked at Locust Street Group, where she designed and managed federal, state, and local advocacy, public affairs, and communications campaigns.

She previously worked at BCW’s Direct Impact, where she held a variety of political and campaign-related positions. She served as the national coalition’s director for Jon Huntsman’s presidential campaign and deputy regional political director at the Republican National Committee, and at the White House under President George W. Bush.
