LONDON — Specialist agency Broadcast Revolution has hired 20-year BBC veteran journalist Mike Young to help brands engage audiences through video, digital media and podcasts.

Young, who joins the agency as a consultant, has been a BBC journalist, producer and presenter on shows including BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast, Drivetime and Morning Reports, BBC Radio Nottingham, the Smart Consumer podcast and most recently at BBC Radio 4’s You & Yours.

Phil Caplin, the former director of broadcast at Good Relations, who launched Broadcast Revolution in 2019, said: “Through the pandemic, the scale and demand for original insight and content from brands has gone through the roof.

“Mike’s expertise as a broadcast veteran will allow us to drive forward our agenda and mission to put a broadcast strategy first, facilitate a genuine two-way relationship between brands and broadcasters and produce high quality video and podcasts to drive engagement for brands online.”

Young added: “There is such a huge opportunity for brands to play a pivotal role in providing authentic and relevant insight to media and consumers about the matters that are shaping our society most. I can’t wait to get started and share my expertise with Broadcast Revolution’s clients.”

The appointment follows a number of recent hires at Broadcast Revolution, including Rebecca McAree, who joined last month from Brazen PR in Manchester.

The agency has also stepped up its Broadcast For Good initiative throughout the pandemic, and has so far donated the equivalent of £115,000 pro bono hours to charities including British Red Cross and Cats Protection.
