HONG KONG — BCW Asia-Pacific president Matt Stafford has expanded his role to include global responsibility for the WPP firm's practices and sectors.
Stafford will retain the Asia-Pacific leadership role he has held for the past six years, remaining based in Asia, and adds the newly-created position of global president for practices and sectors.
His elevation comes after Brooke Hovey was named global president of BCW earlier this year. Hovey, whose role does not change, oversees clients, new business and strategy, while Stafford will focus on the firm's practice areas and sector specialisms.
"Matt is one of our strongest growth drivers at BCW, and he has done an outstanding job in transforming and expanding our Asia-Pacific region,” said BCW global CEO Donna Imperato, to whom Stafford will continue to report. "His prowess with clients and with talent make Matt an exceptional leader and an invaluable member of my Executive Committee. This new role will further our growth in key sectors and is a natural next step in his career."
Stafford oversaw the Asia-Pacific merger of Cohn & Wolfe, where he led Asia-Pacific, and Burson-Marsteller in 2018. Since then, BCW has been named Asia-Pacific Regional Consultancy of the Year twice in three years by PRovoke Media, growing at a double-digit rate for almost all of Stafford's tenure.
"In the past two years, BCW has seen tremendous growth in advisory services across multiple sectors," said Stafford. "This is especially the case in the areas of policy communications, navigating changed geo-political environments, business transformation, employee engagement, purpose and sustainability."
