BRUSSELS — Burson Cohn & Wolfe has appointed European healthcare policy specialist Thomas Gelin to lead its growing healthcare and food division in Brussels.

Before joining BCW as a senior director, Gelin was a Porter Novelli for four years, latterly leading its healthcare team in Brussels as senior vice president and Europe policy lead. Before that, he was a member of Sanofi’s international public affairs team in Washington, DC.

Gelin will report to BCW Brussels CEO Andrew Cecil – promoted to the role a year ago – who said: “Thomas is widely recognized as one of the leading European healthcare policy practitioners, and he arrives at BCW at a time when our healthcare and food business is thriving.

“His expertise put us in a strong position to build on our existing success and continue to grow and transform our offering to meet the evolving demands in healthcare communications in Brussels and across Europe.”

Gelin added: “I am delighted to join BCW and to further expand our services in healthcare and food policy, at a time when patients, consumers, industry and experts are increasingly looking at digitally driven solutions to make a positive impact on the current policy landscape."
