NEW YORK — BCW North American chief client officer Beth Marrano has added oversight of the firm’s New York office to her responsibilities, succeeding Jillian Janaczek who has left the agency after more than two decades.

Marrano has been with BCW since May 2021, when she joined the firm as executive VP of integrated client solutions. She was promoted to chief client officer a year later.

Before BCW, Marrano was with Publicis, where she spent six years as executive VP, client lead and head of account management.

“Since joining us in 2021, she has done an outstanding job as chief client officer overseeing major client engagements, many of which are based in New York. Stewardship of our New York office is a natural extension of Beth’s overall leadership responsibilities at BCW North America, and I am thrilled for her to take the reins at a pivotal moment in our business and, indeed, the industry,” said North America president Mary Corcoran.

Marrano’s promotion comes following Janaczek’s departure in May.

Janaczek was named leader of the firm’s operation in New York (the largest global market) in 2018, following the BCW’s rollout as an integrated combination of Burson-Marsteller and Cohn & Wolfe.  Her appointment as executive VP, managing director and market leader followed a roughly 20-year career with Cohn & Wolfe, which included spending more than a decade as healthcare managing director.

“Jillian built a tremendous career in her 20-plus years with us. In that time, she was a global client leader, led our New York Healthcare practice and, finally, our New York office,” Corcoran said. “She managed complex client work; built strong, profitable businesses; and mentored many colleagues. We are very proud of everything Jillian accomplished during her distinguished career at BCW.”

Marrano’s new leadership role also coincides with BCW making major changes at the highest level. Last week, the agency announced Corey duBrowa, who has led Google’s communications since 2018, will be BCW’s next CEO, succeeding Donna Imperato who is retiring after 25 years with WPP.
