SAN JOSE, CA — Big Valley Marketing has hired tech agency veteran Katie Huang Shin as the firm’s first president.

Huang Shin, who most recently led AxiCom’s North America operation, will be working with Big Valley founder and CEO Tim Marklein on driving the growth of the tech-focused marketing and communications firm.

Huang Shin joins Big Valley three months after her departure from Axicom, which coincided with the installation of Matt Lackie as the firm’s new global CEO. She joined the BCW tech agency as its North America president in April 2020.

Before Axicom, Huang Shin was with WE Communications, where she was president, technology sector and chief strategy officer. Earlier in her career, she held senior positions at Porter Novelli, FleishmanHillard, and Weber Shandwick.

“Over the past few years, we have built a powerhouse leadership team, client roster and differentiated delivery model. Now we’re ready to scale the business to the next level,” said Marklein. “Katie shares our passion for client service and client leadership, while enabling team members to do their best work – which sounds obvious but is often lost in the traditional agency model. I can’t think of a better leader to join our team and help us scale Big Valley into the go-to partner for fast-growing tech companies.”

Big Valley, which Marklein launched in 2014, has more than 25 companies on its roster. Clients include Pensa, StarTree, Tendo, Vic.ai, and Vidyard, Signifyd, Broadcom Software, Cambium Networks, CTG, and Hitachi Vantara.
