LONDON--Bite has appointed Waggener Edstrom’s former head of digital, Jon Silk, to its board of directors.

The move sees Silk reunite with Bite Europe MD Kath Pooley, whom he worked with at Lewis PR. Silk departed Lewis for Wag-Ed in 2009, and has helped to lead substantial growth of the firm's Studio D digital practice.

At Bite, Silk will provide consultancy on digital communications across Europe, working with the agency’s heads of content, creative and client services to develop integrated digital marketing and creative campaigns for clients.

His appointment follows a number of hires that have expanded Bite's digital content capabilities, including former Times journalist Mike Harvey and Justin Pearse, ex-editor of New Media Age.

“Jon’s role will be to be at the forefront of Bite’s client-focused strategy and he’s going to play a key part in unifying our approach across Europe by working with our specialists to deliver bigger, better, and bolder campaigns,” said Kath Pooley, MD Europe at Bite.

“Our commitment to hiring people who constantly challenge clients and who bring an external, credible and unique perspective has really paid off this year."

"Bite is in the middle of a transition that will set a new standard for integrated brand communications, and I can't wait to join such an ambitious and innovative team," added Silk.
