LONDON--Blue Rubicon has hired former Lib Dem digital head Mark Pack from MHP Communications.

Pack arrives at the firm as associate director in March, joining a digital team that includes associate directors Craig Elder and Karin Robinson.

MHP has moved to fill the vacancy by hiring Eamonn Carey as its new digital head. Carey arrives after spending a year as EMEA/APAC director at kiip, prior to which he worked as a consultant at Spook Media/Edelman.

Prior to joining MHP as head of digital, Pack spent nine years at the Liberal Democrats, running the online campaigns for both the 2001 and 2005 General Elections. He launched the Lib Dem ‘Innovation Unit’, which put the internet at the heart the party’s campaigning operation and led to a number of UK political firsts, including the first UK party leader on Facebook.

Pack will report to Blue Rubicon MD Chris Norton, who said: "Mark is one of the UK’s foremost thinkers in online political campaigning.  As a true innovator in his field, Mark will enhance Blue Rubicon’s digital leadership, contributing additional campaigning skills to enhance our top class digital team."

The hire follows Blue Rubicon's sale in late 2012 to private equity firm LDC. At the time, the firm said that it planned to use the investment to boost expansion of its digital team and global presence.
