WASHINGTON — The White House has tapped Bully Pulpit Interactive’s Ben LaBolt to advise President Biden on communications and messaging around the Supreme Court confirmation process.

LaBolt, a BPI partner, has a history with the Biden administration, having served as an advisor to the Biden-Harris transition. He was previously the national press secretary for President Obama’s re-election campaign and a White House assistant press secretary.

LaBolt also served as the Obama White House spokesman on the confirmations of Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

"One the things I'm proudest of is serving on the confirmation teams for Justices Sotomayor and Kagan. Grateful to be able to join immensely talented colleagues to suit up again (literally), advise on comms and ensure that @POTUS' nominee is considered and confirmed expeditiously,” LaBolt wrote in a tweet.

“We’re thrilled that our partner Ben LaBolt is taking a leave from the agency to advise President Biden on communications and messaging relating to the Supreme Court nomination process,” said BPI president Andrew Bleeker. “We’re excited for Ben to play a part in this historic nomination for the Biden White House, building on his efforts having served on the confirmation teams that assisted Justice Sotomayor and Justice Kagan, and can’t wait to have him back after a successful confirmation process.”

LaBolt is one of three new advisors appointed to the Supreme Court nomination team. The others are former US Sen. Doug Jones, who will advise President Biden on navigating the Senate confirmation process, and public affairs strategist Minyon Moore, who is tasked with building nationwide support among groups for President Biden’s nominee.
