CANNES — Edelman was named Independent Agency of the Year in the Cannes Lions entertainment track, an award based on the accumulation of points earned in that field during last week’s Festival of Creativity.

Friday’s award closed out a noteworthy Cannes Lions Festival for Edelman. Earlier in the week, the world’s largest PR firm landed an Entertainment Grand Prix for its Asics Eternal Run campaign, in what may be the first instance of a PR firm leading idea creation for a Grand Prix winner at the festival.

Edelman also won a Gold Lion in the radio & audio division for Good Humor’s A New Jingle for A New Era and a Bronze Lion in entertainment for Dove, Hair Love for Unilever. The agency received 16 shortlists as standalone entrant, and 17 wins and 15 shortlists as the partner/PR agency across 22 of the 28 Lions categories as well.

“Our performance at this year’s festival is a testament to the hard work, dedication and pride the entire agency puts into the work we do for our clients,” said CEO Richard Edelman. “Five years ago we made the decision to invest in, and develop, a creative offering that would produce industry leading work. Today, we are not only producing world class creative but work that is meaningful, culturally relevant and drives change. I could not be prouder of our people for the work they produced this year.”
