LONDON — Bite UK has been named agency of record by electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions manufacturer ChargePoint. The agency is tasked with managing European communications activity and coordination across the region for ChargePoint, which claims to be the world's largest EV charging network.

Bite will work on a retained basis building awareness of the brand across European businesses, governments, the auto industry and consumers. Additionally, the agency will act as the European hub and manage coordination across the region.

The European expansion comes after ChargePoint secured a new $82m funding round in March, 2017 led by German automotive corporation Daimler. It also follows nearly a decade of growth in the US, in which time ChargePoint has installed approximately 33,000 charging ports in North America.

"From our first meeting with ChargePoint, we knew we wanted to work with them. A fantastic team championing a driving revolution to make EV driving a part of everyday life. We relish the opportunity to work with a client making a positive difference in the world, environmentally and socially," said Rachel Gilley, Bite UK's managing director since April, 2017.

The California based EV company was founded in 2007 and provides a comprehensive suite of EV charging solutions for the home, workplace and other public domains. It designs, develops, manufactures and supports all tech used to power the  network, from charging station hardware to energy management software and cloud services.

"We have a collective commitment to the electrification of global mobility and hope that the expansion of the company's charging network into Europe will accelerate the region's shift to cleaner transportation," said Colleen Jansen, CMO, ChargePoint. "As a brand forging ahead in Europe, we're looking to make our mark with a communications strategy that appeals to drivers, businesses and partners alike, and we're excited to work with Bite to bring the ChargePoint message to life."
