MIAMI — The Chilean tourism board has tapped Turner to boost tourism to the country from North America.

Turner has been named agency of record for Sernatur, the government agency responsible for promoting tourism to the South American country. The agency’s remit includes supporting its efforts with public relations and initiatives targeting the travel trade in North America.

The win comes as Sernatur steps up its agency partnerships globally. Earlier this year, the board handed its Australian PR business to travel agency GTI. In the UK, Hills Balfour won the account.

Chile is promoting itself as a destination of particular interest for nature lovers. Desert stargazing, glaciers, lakes and landscapes are among the draws being featured alongside winemaking and the hospitality of the Chilean people.
