NEW YORK, August 6—Citigate Global Intelligence & Security, a unit of Incepta Group and sister company to Citigate Cunningham and Citigate Dewe Rogerson, has finalized the acquisition of Markowitz & McNaughton, a competitive analysis consulting firm based in Reston, Va. MMI will be integrated into CGIS’s existing business intelligence group.

Founded in 1982 by Zane Markowitz and Steven McNaughton, MMI offers services to help senior managers make critical business decisions. The firm works with clients to clarify strategic planning and corporate development choices that require a high-level of information and analysis that cannot be obtained through conventional sources. It offers expertise on industry segments, market opportunities, competitors, acquisition targets, suppliers, customers, proposed new products and services, and company reputation.

Says Den Taylor, senior managing director and CGIS practice head for business intelligence, “Companies are recognizing that that they must focus on improving their market position—and this will drive the growth in the business intelligence industry. However, the business intelligence industry, as a whole, remains highly fragmented and poorly prepared to take advantage of new marketplace demands. CGIS is well positioned to maximize the opportunities in this area, and we are positioning ourselves to be the market leader in this segment.”
