TORONTO —Citizen Relations has launched a social impact practice led by Shilpa Tiwari to help companies manage their sustainability and social justice efforts.

As global executive VP of social impact, Tiwari will oversee the agency's work helping clients manage their ESG and sustainability strategies, DE&I efforts, and policies with stakeholders. Tiwari will also be part of the agency’s global executive team and help drive the agency’s culture.

Tiwari brings to Citizen Relations expertise gleaned during more than 15 years leading sustainability and social impact for a range of organizations including mining, insurance, infrastructure and investment companies.

Most recently, Tiwari oversaw ESG efforts at Economical Insurance, where she created the company’s approach to embedding sustainability in the company’s operations ahead of its IPO. Before that, she held senior leadership roles at Manulife, Simpact Strategy Group and SNC-Lavalin. She’s also the founder of Her Climb, which is dedicated to increasing the number of women of color in executive and senior roles in North American corporations and organizations.

“It’s incredibly important for corporations and institutions to make a lasting impact for societal change and the planet we all live on,” said President Nick Cowling. “With Shilpa’s leadership, we’re able to help our clients deliver meaningful change and engage their audiences to participate.”
