SAN FRANCISCO — Dell’s head of communications Kelly McGinnis will reportedly depart the company at the end of the month.

According to an internal memo leaked to BusinessWeek, McGinnis is leaving the company for “another exciting leadership opportunity” closer to her family in California. Dell is based in Texas, meanwhile McGinnis has maintained her position from San Francisco.

It is reported that  Marc Bien, a Dell communications manager, will take over as head of comms following McGinnis’ departure. It is unclear whether Bien’s placement will be for the interim or on a permanent basis. Neither McGinnis nor Dell immediately responded to inquiries for comment, but it is understood that Dell will make an announcement tomorrow.

McGinnis has a seasoned history with Dell. She joined in 2010 after a tumultuous run as head of WPP’s ill-fated Enfatico unit -- a marketing services firm built specifically for its founding client Dell. She stayed with Enfatico for two years leading its PR charge, during which time the firm folded into Y&R and then to sister WPP firm Axicom.
