CHICAGO—Exelon has appointed Maggie FitzPatrick (pictured) as senior vice president of corporate affairs, philanthropy and customer engagement. She will oversee communications, brand strategy, and customer engagement as well as the distribution of nearly $40 million in annual giving from Exelon. FitzPatrick recently served as global chief communication officer and vice president of public affairs at Johnson & Johnson and earlier was global chief communication officer and president of the Foundation at Cigna.

FORT WORTH, TX—Elevate, a provider of online credit solutions for non-prime consumers, has hired Al Comeaux as chief communications officer. Most recently, Comeaux served as an executive director of communications at two GE businesses. Prior to that, he led strategic communications efforts at Sabre, Travelocity and American Airlines in Europe and the US, after roles in public affairs and as a press secretary in Washington, DC.

CHAPEL HILL, NC—Cempra, a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing antibiotics to meet critical medical needs in the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases, has appointed John Bluth to the newly created position of executive vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. He will report directly to Prabhavathi Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of Cempra. Prior to joining Cempra, Mr. Bluth headed investor relations and corporate communications for two Silicon Valley biotechnology companies, CV Therapeutics and Aviron.
