LIVERMORE, CA—Comcast has named veteran communications professional Mary Stutts to the newly-created position of regional vice president of external affairs for California. She will be based in the company's Livermore, California office, and will manage a recently merged team of government affairs and communications professionals. Stutts previously held a variety of external affairs leadership positions at pharmaceutical and health care companies, including Genentech, Kaiser Permanente, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bayer and UnitedHealth Group. Most recently, she served as the vice president of corporate communications at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

BAYPORT, MN—Andersen Corporation, maker of Anderson brand windows and doors, has promoted Susan Roeder to director of public affairs. Roeder will be responsible for growing Andersen public outreach in all communities where we have a presence. She joined Andersen in 1996 in with an initial focus on establishing the company's community outreach and volunteerism.

HANOVER, NH—Thomas Bruce, former vice president of communications at Cornell University, has been named senior vice president for public affairs at Dartmouth College. Bruce will oversee communications and marketing functions as well as government relations. Before joining Cornell in 2004, Bruce was senior vice president at public affairs firm Chlopak Leonard, Schechter & Associates.

MISSISSAUGA, ON—Kia Canada has appointed Maxime Surette as public relations manager. Since joining Kia Canada in 2007, Surette has contributed to the company’s marketing, product planning and more recently brand strategy. In his new role, he will be responsible for all day-to-day public relations functions for Kia Canada Inc., including ongoing media relations. He will report directly to Jack Sulymka, national public relations and corporate partnerships manager, Kia Canada.

REDWOOD CITY, CA—UBIC, a provider of international litigation support and forensic solutions, has appointed Sasha Hefler as senior director of strategy and communications. Hefler has been working with UBIC for almost a year as an outside consultant assisting in various areas of marketing, branding and public relations. DETROIT—Ilitch Holdings has named John Hahn, former senior director of communications for the Detroit Red Wings, as vice president of corporate communications. Prior to joining the Red Wings, Hahn worked with Churchill Downs; the University of Miami; and the Michigan State University Spartan hockey team.
