NEW YORK — Legal giant Dentons has hired KPMG's Mark Walters as its new global communications director, filling a role that had remained vacant for several months.

Walters departs after four years as director of communications in KPMG's office of the global chairman. Prior to joining the consulting company, he spent almost eight years with FTI Consulting.

At Dentons, Walters will oversee internal and external global communications initiatives, beginning his tenure with an extensive travel schedule to learn more about the capabilities and communications priorities of each of the firm's regions.

Following a series of mergers over the past few years, Dentons is now the world's largest law firm in terms of number of lawyers, with over 7500, and more than US$2bn in revenues.

Walters brings considerable global experience to his new position, having worked in Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, Washington, DC and New York.
