LONDON—Focus PR has acquired Event Collective, a specialist event production business founded by Joe Russell, who becomes Focus PR’s head of brand experience. The two agencies have previously worked together on award-winning events for clients including Courvoisier, Jim Beam and Morrisons. The deal sees Event Collective clients—including brands such as The Shard, MTV Networks Europe, Figleaves.com, News UK, Outward Bound and Network Rail—joining Focus PR’s portfolio.

LONDON—Simon Barker, a 13-year member of Cubitt Consulting, has been promoted to become the firm’s first non-founding managing director, reporting to Simon Brocklebank-Fowler, founder and executive chairman.  He will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the firm, releasing Brocklebank-Fowler to focus more fully on client service and wider business development. Barker joined Cubitt in 2001, after an earlier career with Biss Lancaster and Mmd.

MUNICH—German consumer specialist häberlein & mauerer has added Pinterest as a new client. The digital living team at häberlein & mauerer’s Berlin office will work on behalf of the image-sharing social networking site, handing both consumer and business-to-business PR to heighten awareness of the Pinterest brand in Germany. häberlein & mauerer has developed a communications strategy that focuses on building a brand profile in the business press and on cooperating with media and bloggers to tell stories about Pinterest’s diverse potential uses.

LONDON—Atomic PR has been selected by Teleplan, the company that provides repair and refurbishment services for electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, to deliver an awareness building campaign. Atomic PR’s pan-European campaign will focus on highlighting Teleplan’s expertise and track-record as a leading after sales services provider to brands like Cisco, KPN and Nokia, as well as highlighting its innovative products and services.

LONDON—Ogilvy HealthPR, part of Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, has appointed Rebecca Canvin as social media manager, the agency’s first dedicated social media role. Canvin previously worked as a digital content manager at Brandcast Media/Health, where she was responsible for implementing digital strategy and leading digital content production and as a digital executive editor for Bupa.
