MADRID—Llorente & Cuenca, a market leader in Spain, Portugal and Latin America, has acquired Hermes Consultores de Comunicación, a consultancy based in Madrid also specializing in financial and corporate communication. José María Urquijo, managing director of Hermes, will become Iberia vice president of financial communication at Llorente & Cuenca.

DÜSSELDORF—Volker Heck, head of corporate communications at RWE since 2006, is joining Deekeling Arndt Advisors as managing director and partner. For 23 years, Heck held a number of different management positions at RWE, one of Europe’s leading utilities, where he worked in close consultation with four CEOs. In his new role, he will expand DAA’s consulting portfolio in energy and environmental policy and will add expertise in corporate change and renewal processes.

LONDON—Shoptility, a shopping search engine, has appointed a consortium of three leading marketing agencies, including public relations firm Fishbun, to help support the company in its launch later this year. Integrated communications agency krow Communications will develop the Shoptility brand story; media planning and buying agency Walker Media will deliver above-the-line communications; and Fishburn will handle the social media and press launch to consumers, as well as raising the corporate profile among key business audiences.

BASEL—Actelion, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative drugs for diseases with significant unmet medical needs, has appointed Andrew Weiss as senior vice president, head of investor relations and public affairs, replacing Roland Haefeli, who will stay with Actelion in a senior advisory role. Weiss joins from Bank Vontobel, where he was head of life science equity research and pharma analyst.

LONDON—Everline, a short-term digital lender for SMEs, has appointed The Octopus Group for an integrated communications programme to increase brand awareness and drive customer acquisition among small businesses.
