LONDON—Jo Gibbons, most recently a director for the research company Populus, has joined Fenton, the trans-Atlantic social impact communications firm. As assistant director of Fenton's recently-launched London office, Gibbons will help expand the firm's UK presence and grow its global network.
Earlier, Gibbons worked as a senior adviser in Downing Street as deputy director of government relations and then director of events. She then moved with the former Prime Minister Tony Blair after he left office as his director of corporate affairs, helping him establish his post-government activities.

ZURICH—Urs Rellstab, CEO of Burson-Marsteller Switzerland, is leaving the company to pursue other interests, and Marie-Louise Baumann, senior adviser to the firm, has been named interim CEO. Baumann joined Burson-Marsteller from the Liberal Democratic Party in 2000 to head the public affairs practice. Prior to her role with the Liberal Democrats, she worked for the Federal Chancellery.

LONDON—Fishburn Hedges has appointed Jim Godfrey, who previously worked as director of corporate affairs at ITV, a special adviser at the DTI (now Department for Business) and most recently as vice president of public affairs, EMEA, at Starbucks, as an expert advisor. He will be working with FH CEO Fiona Thorne on corporate developments as well as with a number of agency clients.

LONDON—W Communications has been appointed as the retained agency for W London, Leicester Square, after a competitive pitch process. The contract will see W Communications drive greater connectivity between the luxury hotel and its key audiences across fashion, design, music and film. The incumbent, John Doe, which declined to re-pitch, will continue to work for the hotel until the end of February 2013.
