LONDON — European mobility app Bolt has appointed James Midmer as corporate communications lead in the UK and Ireland. In the newly-created role, Midmer will support the company as it develops its ride hailing business launches other services which include e-scooters, food delivery and car sharing. Headquartered in Estonia, Bolt was founded in 2013 by CEO Markus Villig when he was 19 and now supports 75m customers in over 45 countries, recently closing a €600m funding round. Midmer joins from Engine MHP where he was a director in the capital markets division. He was previously head of communications at Flutter Entertainment, the FTSE 100 sports betting operator.

MANCHESTER, UK — Tangerine Communications has appointed its first chief executives, promoting managing directors Sam Gregory and Mary Harding into the joint role. The pair joined the agency, whose clients include Specsavers and Pizza Hut, 10 years ago and will lead Tangerine as it embarks on a new phase of expansion and investment. Founder Sandy Lindsay remains as chair. Tangerine has been majority employee-owned since 2017 and has turnover of £5 million.

LONDON — Ian Wright, former corporate relations director at Diageo, has been appointed vice-chair and non-executive director of communications and public affairs firm Hume Brophy. Wright is currently chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation and will leave the trade body at the end of this year.

LONDON —Online rail and coach booking platform Trainline has hired former Portland international MD Martin Sheehan to the new role of chief corporate affairs officer, leading the group's government affairs, industry relations and communications across Europe. He joins the executive team and reports to CEO Jody Ford. Before joining Portland 13 years ago, Sheehan was head of strategic communications at 10 Downing Street and advised prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

LEEDS, UK — Digital marketing agency Search Laboratory has grown its Leeds, New York and Texas offices with several new hires throughout the business, including a new head of digital PR, Alice Lamstaes, and digital PR specialist Rachel Humphreys, as well as four new hires in the US.
