IRVING, TX — ExxonMobil has appointed longtime Best Buy CCO Matt Furman head of public and government affairs.
Furman will assume the VP role from Suzanne McCarron, who is retiring after 24 years with the energy giant. He starts April 1.
Furman joins Exxon after spending nearly a decade as Best Buy’s chief communications and public affairs officer. He previously served as Mars' VP of corporate affairs, and held senior leadership roles at Google, ChoicePoint and CNN.
“We welcome Matt to ExxonMobil and will leverage his knowledge and experience to enhance our corporate communications,” said CEO and chairman Darren Woods. “I thank Suzanne for her many contributions to the company’s success during her career and wish her all the best in retirement.”
Furman will be joining Exxon roughly three months after global comms lead Rob Clark departed the company to join Caris Life Sciences as CCO.
