BRUSSELS--FedEx has switched PR agencies in EMEA, less than a year after reviewing the £150K account.
The logistics giant has moved EMEA duties to Waggener Edstrom, in favour of incumbent firm and global AOR Ketchum Pleon. Last year, FedEx reviewed both its EMEA and UK agency relationships, worth around £250K in total, both of which were handled by Ketchum Pleon at the time.
The Omnicom firm was replaced as UK AOR by Spider PR, but retained the regional brief. However, the EMEA assignment now shifts to Waggener Edstrom's UK office following a review last month.
Ketchum remains FedEx’s global agency partner, a relationship that spans nearly two decades. “While we’re disappointed that we will not continue our EMEA pan regional support for FedEx, we look forward to achieving many more milestones together,” said a Ketchum Pleon spokesperson.
Waggener-Edstrom representatives declined to comment. A FedEx spokesperson was unable to provide comment as this story went live.
According to last year's brief, the agency will coordinate FedEx’s local agency network across relevant markets, and provide strategic counsel, crisis consulting, media relations, media training, internal comms and CSR support.
The FedEx account is Waggener-Edstrom’s second significant new business win in the recent months in Europe. Last November, the Holmes Report revealed that it had been chosen to handle Panasonic’s re-entry into the global smartphone market.
