LONDON — Fergusons Transport, the largest privately-owned haulier in the North East of England, has appointed Centropy PR as its first PR agency after a competitive pitch.

Fergusons, which was founded in 1926, provides warehousing, logistics, storage and transport to businesses across the UK, with depots across the country and 350 staff. During the pandemic, it has provided support services including the transportation of 750 NHS hospital beds. Key customers include Nissan, which recently announced a major expansion of electric vehicle production at its car plant in Sunderland.

As part of the retained brief, Centropy will provide strategic communications, media relations, and digital support services to raise Fergusons’ profile with existing and prospective customers.

Fergusons Transport PR and brand executive Naomi Ferguson said: “With a sharp rise in demand for our services, we were looking for a proactive PR agency to raise our brand profile with ambitious SMEs seeking to expand following the Covid-19 pandemic. The Centropy team put forward a compelling creative vision, demonstrating a proactive approach to media relations and a deep understanding of our brand requirements.”

Centropy PR founder Steven George-Hilley added: “We’re excited to be working with such a prestigious brand and a true British success story. Fergusons literally goes the extra mile for its clients, providing vital support services during the height of the pandemic and empowering SMEs as the economy reboots.”

Fergusons joins other firms including manufacturer Vision Engineering, TechUK and The Institute of Coding on Centropy’s client roster.
