HONG KONG — Fidelity International has hired Mariko Sanchanta as head of corporate communications in Asia-Pacific.

Sanchanta joins from Burson-Marsteller, where she spent three years as regional MD. Prior to that, she was a journalist at the Financial Times for a decade in New York, London and Tokyo and also an editor and reporter with the Wall Street Journal in Tokyo and Hong Kong for five years.

Sanchanta becomes responsible for Fidelity's corporate communications strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan. She leads a team across Hong Kong and Tokyo, reporting to London-based head of corporate affairs Peter Yandle, and working closely with Asia-Pacific (ex-Japan) MD Mark Talbot.

"[Sanchanta] brings with her an impressive skill-set from the worlds of both financial journalism and public relations," said Yandle. "Fidelity International is very focused on growing its reputation and business in Asia and Mariko’s experience and talents will help us to achieve these goals."
