NEW YORK — Cohn & Wolfe’s former US president David Herrick has joined the emerging marketing firm Hudson Cutler as a principal alongside its founder Robert Dowling.
Herrick, who joined Cohn & Wolfe last year as US president, told the Holmes Report he parted ways with the WPP-firm “several months ago.” There, he oversaw five US offices and four US practices groups made up of more than 250 people.
A Cohn & Wolfe spokesperson said the firm is "actively searching for the right leader to drive" continued growth in the US and its Americas leader Jim Joseph is leading the region in the interim.
Meanwhile in November 2015, Dowling launched Hudson Cutler — described as a “technology-driven marketing and communications agency” after departing from FleishmanHillard earlier that year. The firm (which was shortlisted as one of the Holmes Report’s best new agencies this year) puts technology — meaning software, devices and apps — at the center of its campaigns. The 10-person firm counts Coca-Cola, BMW, AMC Networks and Visa among its clients.
“Robert and I are both respected strategists and client counselors,” Herrick said when explaining each of their roles. “We will both reach out to our networks and provide client counsel. I also have an operations background and as Hudson Cutler rapidly grows, we’ll need to scale the company and I’ll play a role in that.”
Herrick was COO of the independently-owned MWW from 2012 to 2015 and prior to that was general manager at the firm.
