NEW YORK — Softbank’s Gary Ginsberg has stepped down from his role leading global communications for the Japanese conglomerate just as the company was rebounding from last year's record-setting losses.

According to Bloomberg, Ginsberg left Softbank in December, but the company kept his departure under wraps.  Corporate communications partner Sarah Lubman, who joined Softbank from Brunswick two years ago, has been serving as acting chief communications officer.

Ginsberg had been with Softbank since 2018. Before that, he led corporate communications and marketing for Time Warner and global marketing and corporate affairs for News Corp.

Ginsberg is the latest of a string of senior leaders leaving Softbank, which experienced a major comeback earlier this year, largely due to the success of its Vision Fund VC unit, close to a year after suffering a  $12.7 billion loss in Q1 2020.

Softbank’s chief legal, compliance and strategy officer have all left, or announced their intention to do so. In December, Paroma Roy Chowdhury left the multinational corporation after more than five years as senior director of Asia communications and public affairs to focus on startups.
