LONDON — Golin has made a trio of senior hires, bringing former BCW consumer marketing lead Ed Green on board as its new managing director of consumer, as well as Cow PR’s Alex Bell as executive director of media relations and Jo Bromilow as social strategy director.
Green left BCW this summer after three years at BCW; he was previously the managing director at Mission, where he spent a decade before joining the WPP agency in 2019 as one of the first wave of new board directors appointed by UK chief executive Rebecca Grant after the merger.
Over his career, Green (pictured, left) has worked with something of an A-Z of big brands, including Aldi, Amazon, Apple, Diageo, John Lewis, Mac Cosmetics, Microsoft, Nike, Nokia, Puma, Tiffany & Co, Vans and Warner Bros.
In his new role, Green is responsible for leading Golin’s consumer practice to expand its capabilities, evolve ways of working and harness the power of an already existing ambitious and dynamic team.
He will report into Ondine Whittington, group managing director of Golin and Virgo Health, who said: “I am absolutely delighted to have Ed joining us. He brings the perfect blend of big agency integrated thinking and expertise, with the agility and creative agency energy of a boutique – the ideal Golin combination. He knows how to build high-performing, happy teams, is results driven and client focused, but above that, has an infectious passion for the brands he works on.
“With his expansive experience across multiple brands and sectors I am really excited by his ambition for how we continue to enhance the work we do for our existing clients, while also diversifying our portfolio into new areas.”
Green added: “I’m thrilled to start this new term with Golin and supercharge the direction of its consumer team. We’re going to navigate this new world together, nailing our clients’ new priorities, creative needs and ambitions. Driving some independent thinking within this globally recognised creative comms team, the opportunities are endless.”
In the wake of Green’s departure, BCW has restructured its consumer marketing leadership, promoting Tom Malcolm to group MD of consumer and head of transformation for the UK.
Bell (pictured, centre) joins Golin from Cow PR, where she had been director of PR for more than five years. She takes on leadership of Golin’s media team, responsible for the agency’s largest consumer client campaigns. Bell has worked on UK and global brand campaigns including Heineken’s sponsorship of the UEFA EURO 2020 Championships, and has also worked at agencies including Freuds, Grayling and Citigate Dewe Rogerson.
Bromilow (right) joins the agency from Ogilvy, where she was a senior strategist in its Social.Lab, working on FMCG brands. She has over a decade’s experience working in digital and social and has worked with clients including Microsoft, Cisco, Vodafone, Diageo, Vauxhall and F&F at Tesco. Her agency experience includes Weber Shandwick, Publicasity, Harvard and Brands2Life.
Whittington said: “The post-pandemic media landscape is shifting faster than ever before and therefore it is vital we take a far more strategic approach to how we earn attention to gain cut through. The combination of Alex and Jo’s experience and expertise will really help us to integrate and leverage traditional, social and influencer to the best advantage for our clients.”
The two latter hires form part of the growing strategy team at Golin, led by Kat Arnull, who joined Golin earlier this year as UK group chief strategy officer.
