WASHINGTON — Licy Do Canto is leaving his role as a BCW managing director to lead APCO Worldwide’s Washington DC operation.

Do Canto, who most recently led BCW’s healthcare policy team, has formally been named MD of APCO Washington, as which he will oversee the DC office and lead the firm’s business across the Mid-Atlantic region. APCO restructured its US operation in September,  creating four regional hubs (North, South, Mid-Atlantic and West) designed to foster growth and innovation.

Do Canto is assuming the responsibilities from Evan Kraus, who will continue in his role as APCO’s global president and MD of operations.

An expert in healthcare policy, Do Canto brings nearly three decades of Beltway experience to the role.

For nearly two years, Do Canto has been an EVP and MD in BCW’s public affairs and crisis practice, as which he led the firm’s healthcare policy team. He ran his own public affairs firm, The Do Canto Group, before that.

Earlier in his career, Do Canto served as CEO of the AIDs Alliance for Children, Youth & Families and held senior leadership roles at NACHC (National Association of Community Health Centers) and the American Cancer Society. He also spent four years running Partnership for Medicaid, a national coalition of providers, unions and governments that he founded.
