HONG KONG — The Hoffman Agency has hired Kevin On as Hong Kong GM, filling a role that had been vacant since the departure of Marc Sparrow last year.
On joins the firm from drone brand DJI, where he most recently served as global marketing and communications director, based in Shenzhen. Prior to DJI, On spent almost a decade at Ogilvy & Mather.
On takes charge of one of Hoffman's regional hubs, alongside Singapore, with multi-market business helping the firm reach global 2020 revenue of US$15m, up 1% on 2019 despite the pandemic.
"We’re all about diversity at Hoffman, and are always on the lookout for people who can give us a new perspective,” said Hoffman Asia-Pacific MD Caroline Hsu, to whom On reports. "Kevin has it all — he’s covered agency and in-house. He’s tried his hand at a wide range of marketing communication roles. He’s moved from Hong Kong to Canada to China and back again, but he’s local at heart. Now that’s a rare find."
On is charged with furthering Hoffman’s integrated marketing capabilities within Hong Kong, as well as working closely with the agency's other eight offices in the region. Hoffman's Asia-Pacific operations now account for more than half of its global revenue.
"We're in an interesting time where companies are looking for new and innovative ways of doing business, and with this, a new approach to doing communications with their customers, the public and different stakeholders," said On. "I'm excited to be back on the consultancy side to help clients navigate the unprecedented challenges they are facing, and shape interesting stories around the role of technology and its impact on businesses, communities and our everyday lives."
