LONDON — Global technology agency Hotwire has hired Laura Lear as its first head of corporate communications in the UK.

In the new role, Lear will be responsible for the leadership of the agency’s corporate communications team and senior client relations.

She joins Hotwire from McCann Worldgroup, where she had been managing partner of PR and social for the past year. Before that, Lear was director of the business and corporate team at Speed. She has worked with clients including Microsoft, P&G, Axa, Samsung and Yahoo.

Lear has also worked in Sydney for N2N Communications, leading national corporate and consumer awareness and international campaigns for clients such as National Broadband Network, Cisco, and General Electric. She also spent time working for Edelman UAE leading the Dubai arm of the business and working on accounts including HP, Xbox, Kraft, and Dyson.

Hotwire’s head of communications and client service Maureen Conlon said: “Laura brings with her a breadth of experience in PR, corporate communications and reputation management and we are delighted to have her join the team. Her background in developing corporate narrative and building the reputation of some of the world’s leading technology brands will bolster and empower the integrated services we can offer our clients”.

Lear added: “I am passionate about corporate reputation and building brands and believe you can only do this through the alignment of strong communications and marketing working together... Hotwire has a great reputation for delivering outstanding work for exciting tech businesses, so I am delighted to be joining this dynamic team to strengthen the corporate communications offering.”

Hotwire has yet to fill its UK managing director role, after Tara O’Donnell left in March. In June, the agency’s EMEA B2B lead, Matt Cross, left after 10 years to head up external communications at Dentsu International.

Earlier this summer Hotwire, along with parent company Enero, announced two acquisitions: B2B digital marketing agency ROI DNA, based in San Francisco, and GetIT, a B2B technology marketing agency with offices in Singapore, India, Malaysia and Japan.
