CHICAGO — Franziska Weber has been promoted to Hyatt Hotels’ global communications head after doing the job on an interim basis since July.

In the senior VP role, Weber will oversee the full range of integrated communications for the company. Her charge includes supporting Hyatt’s growth plan, luxury all-inclusive resorts and DE&I efforts.

Weber will report to chief commercial officer Mark Vondrasek. She replaces Kathy Krenger, who left Hyatt in June to serve as Kraft Heinz’ chief communications officer.

Weber joined Hyatt in 2017 to lead internal communications, and subsequently added overseeing corporate and strategic communications to her responsibilities. As interim comms head, Weber oversaw communications for the launch of Hyatt’s ESG framework, Thompson Hotels’ Culture Lives Here campaign and Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group.

Earlier in her career, Weber held senior roles with Gagen MacDonald, Weber Shandwick and Lufthansa Group.

“At Hyatt, we create true personal connections, and the communications function is critical to reaching our stakeholders on their preferred terms,” said Vondrasek. “Truly listening is an expression of our company purpose, to care for people so they can be their best. From day one, Franziska has infused care, empathy and her global perspective to elevate communications at Hyatt, and we are expertly positioned under her leadership.”
